In order to receive assistance, you will need to fill out an application at the CAFI Social Service Center in the county in which you live or the Center that serves the county you live in. Please call the Center served by your county. This program will be administered by the first come/first served principle.

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program will help pay heating costs for gas, electricity, wood, coal or kerosene. One-time payments will be made by checks issued to home energy suppliers on behalf of eligible households.

When applying for assistance, persons must bring proof of gross income for all household members for the last 30 days. This can be paycheck stubs, public assistance checks, unemployment award letters, etc. Applicants must also bring proof of citizenship such as the original Social Security Card or birth certificate showing place of birth for each person in the household and their most recent home heating bill.

All eligible households must be responsible for their home heating costs. Eligibility for the program is based on the gross income of all members of the household. To be eligible, households must have a gross income equal to or less than:

$21,504 for a one-person household

$28,116 for a two-person household

$34,728 for a three-person household

$41,340 for a four-person household

$47,964 for a five-person household

$54,576 for a six-person household

$55,812 for a seven-person household

$57,060 for a eight-person household

$58,296 for a nine-person household

$59,532 for a ten-person household
