Hello from Mrs McCurty,
Welcome to the LaGrange Head Start Center! We are so happy that you have entrusted us to fulfill your child’s educational needs. In partnership with parents and the community, our goal is to ensure that all students develop the knowledge, skills and character necessary to achieve their highest educational potential.
The purpose of the Head Start program is to “promote the school readiness of children ages birth to 5 from low-income families by enhancing their cognitive, social and emotional development”. Head Start is a federally funded child care program which “provides comprehensive services to enrolled children and their families, which include health, nutrition, social services and other services determined to be necessary by family needs assessments, in addition to education and cognitive development services” (ACF, 2013).
The LaGrange Head Start Center is accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) which is the world’s largest organization working on behalf of the young child.
We are also licensed through the Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning, which is the regulatory agency for child care within the state of Georgia.
We have 244 children enrolled within our facility. We service the needs before birth (Pregnant Moms) through 5 years of age. We have 2 programs to meet the needs of our students:
• Early Head Start: Before birth-2 years of age
• Head Start: 3-5 years of age
Please come in at any time to volunteer and learn more about our programs.
