Low-Income Home Energy Assistance (LIHEAP)

An annual program beginning around November, the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program provides financial assistance to help offset eligible Georgia household’s home energy, gas or propane bills.

Eligibility is based on income guidelines and important verification documents including: Household income, Social security cards, valid photo identification and a recent copy of your household energy bill.

Applications are accepted on a first-come, first served basis beginning around November annually.

*Beginning November 1, 2018 LIHEAP appointment requests will only be taken online, not over the phone. Seniors ages 65 and older may request a LIHEAP appointment following November 1st. As of December 1, 2018, LIHEAP program enrollment will open up to the general public (income limits apply).

To qualify for the LIHEAP Program, applicants must have a yearly household income less than or equal to 60% of the State of Georgia median income guidelines, as defined by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
